MY HOLIDAY

If you follow the road, we was in the first big house on the right. You can also see the rocks we climbed on when the sea went out.

I have been back from my holiday now for 1 week. I dont think i told you, but we went to Moelfre in Wales. There isnt any attractions there but we chose it for a rest. People often book that place as sort of a basecamp. For example people will go to places like snowdon from there. It is a massive mountain what you can walk up. Infact i think it is the second biggest mountain in the uk. Ben nevis is first in Scotland. As i was saying we booked it for a rest. And i loved it. The beach was literally 30 seconds walk from where we was. There was also a rock wall that me and Tom loved to climb on. We climbed on it as much as we could. Unfortunataly there was 3 days that where ultra windy, so we obviously couldnt do it then. Tom loves climbing and it boosts his confidance way high. I love to see him like that.  We visited quite a few places in the week we was there. My favourites where Bangor and newborough forest. Bangor had a big church and a few shops so we had a good look around there. Infact we went there twice. And newborough forest was great. There was three paths that you could choose from. There was a beginner one a medium one and a harder walk. I wanted to do the harder walk as it was 5 miles long, but we couldnt because Jessica couldnt have made it around. So we did the shorter one which was about 1.5km i think. This forest was also at the edge of a great beach, so we went on the beach for half an hour after the walk. We found a couple of nice shells so we put them in a little bag and took them home. All in all it was a fantastic holiday. The only drawbacks was i had to sleep in a bunk bed and we had no wi fi in the cottage. The wifi wasnt a massive deal but the bunk bed was. everytime Tom woke up he woke me up by getting of the bed. It wasnt his fault though. Also the bed i was in i only just fit. My feet was right at the end. We all loved it though. Infact we are going again next year but in a different cottage. Its literally across the road from where we was this time. And the cottage we was in this time, my Nan and Grandad and my uncle are going in that one. So that should be interesting. We also went into a pub and i bought everyone a drink. I also bought everyone a drink when we went in for a second time. At the beggining of the week i gave my little bro 10 pounds aswell so he would have some spending money. He bought a sort of gem rock. overall I had a great time and a good relax. Thanks for reading.

TALK ABOUT YOUR MEDICATIONS MONTH

Standard

ARC_Talk_About_Meds_Banner_Paul

I have been asked recently to help spread awareness about taking medication and medication safety By the American recall center (click here and it will take you to their recent post about Xarelto). I of course obliged (i am very honoured). Well here goes:

Medication I take – My medication has varied over the years from tablets like fluoxetine and Risperidone (which are antidepressants and anti physcotics) to tablets that i am on now which are pregabalin and melatonin.  Pregabalin is usually used to treat epilepsy by controlling electrical activity in the brain, but they can also be used for extreme anxiety. This is what I take these tablets for. Melatonin on the other hand is used for sleeping. All plants animals and humans all produce melatonin (which is a hormone). In humans, we have a small gland inside the brain that creates and releases melatonin. This is what controlls our wake and sleep patterns. The tablet melatonin basically boosts the amount of melatonin created thus helping you fall asleep.

What side effects have I experienced – With Fluoxetine I developed a rash so I can’t have any medication that is similar to that now. With Risperidone I had a bit of a heart problem  {long QT}. Infact the doctor was so worried about this that he insisted i had to have a ECG every month to keep a eye on my heart. My most recent side effect is balance issues. Each time my phsycologists ups the dosage of pregabalin, it takes about 3 or 4 days to get my balance in order. I keep walking into my mum for example when i go for a walk or i would fall going up the stairs because i have not judged the step correctly.

How i remember when to take my medication – my Mum. Basically if I forget to take my medication at the right time my mum reminds me. This as i have experienced is a great way to take your medication at the right time. If you are not very good at remembering to take your medication, make sure you either have someone there who can remind you or you can buy a sort of pill box. It is labeled with names of each day of the week. So what you can do is put your tablets into their correct compartment at the begining of the week, then you can see exactly what you have had during the day and what you have left. This will ensure you dont go over your prescribed amount also.

Advice for you.

1. Always make sure you find out the side effects of you medication. You will then know what to look out for.

2. Make extra sure you dont go over your prescribed limit. Double check your dosage before you take any medication. Its better to be safe than sorry.

3. Dont be nervous about speaking to your doctor. He is there to help.

4. Dont drink alcohol on any medication if it tells you not to on the information leaflet.

5. Keep all your medication away from children.

6. Always read the information leaflet that usually comes with it.

PLEASE SHARE THIS IF IT HELPED YOU, OR YOU THINK IT WILL HELP SOMEONE ELSE. THANKYOU.

I RAN 5 MILE

                                        WOOOO HOOOO

Just after i wrote my last post i went on my treadmill. Me and my brother Tom was doing a challenge. We basically had to try and do 4 miles between us. Tom did 1 mile because Tim told him to come off and so i had to try and do 3. I think it was in my mind to conquer 3 mile because my body didnt feel as tired and i could carry on for longer. Your mind can be so powerfull sometimes. Its unbelievable. Anyway i got to 3 and felt fine. Bare in mind my past record was 2 miles. I carried on and thought i would go for Adams record which is 4 miles. I was a little tired but cracked on with it. I then went for my taxi drivers record which is 4.2 miles. me and Javid (taxi driver) are always talking about fitness because we both love it so much. Also he goes to the gym on the running machine 5 times a week if he can. So i was super pleased to break his record. Then i thought why stop there, lets go for the 5. i did it in around 57 minutes. I was getting very tired around the 4.7 mark. But for once my mind helped me achieve something i thought was impossible for me. Thanks for reading.

P.s tommorow i will post a good picture i took on my new phone.

100th POST. MY BIG ACHIEVEMENT.

THIS IS WHAT IT LOOKED LIKE WHERE WE WAS SAT AT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My big achievement is………….  I went to a football match. Leeds united football match to be precise. My stepdad Tim won a facebook competition to go to the match. He won 2 tickets for seats right at the top tier. I wasnt going untill the morning of the match. I wondered about going the day before so i thought that when i get up i would decide then. And i just went for it even though i was nervous. Not as nervous as i would have been like 2 years ago but still nervous because it was something new to me (well i havent been to a match for about 10 years, so it was kind of new). When we got close to the stadium there was hundreds of people walking towards it. The realisation of what i was doing then sunk in. Fortunately i could controll my emotions. If i didnt i would have been too nervous and then i would have to sit in the car for two hours whilst i wait for Tim to watch the match and then come back to the car. It would have been to far to drive me back because it was about 40 miles away. When we parked up and started walking to the stadiums entrances my emotions suddenly burst out of me. I didnt tell Tim but i had uncontrollable shivering. The ony thing that stopped my jaws from chattering was having a chewing gum. I couldnt believe this (for me) herculean task i was doing. There was now thousands of people wondering into the entrances. You have to remember that humans for me are very unpredictable, and i was going into a sort of massive cage full of high adrenaline, unpredictable cretures. We eventually found our seat and i was very surprised how close you are to the other people. You are literally shoulder too shoulder with random strangers ( a autistics worst nightmare ). I gritted my teeth and got on with it. When the players came on to the pitch there was a massive roar of cheers and shouting. Later on it flashed up on the screen that there was around about 24 thouand people there. So you can imagine the sound of all them people. I put my hood up to dampen the sound abit. It wasnt a lot though. Anyway the match passed by unexpectedly quick. The one thing i noticed though i that i couldnt concentrate on the game properly because of the noise. i think it was sensory overload. But the thing was though, i did it. On the way home i was very happy with myself and so was my mum and stepdad. Unfortunately though Leeds drew 1-1 against Sheffied Wednesday. What do you thinks about my big achievement ? Thanks for reading.

P.S we are going on holiday for the first time in about 4 years next week to wales. So i will tell you how it went after i get back.

IN OTHER NEWS…. (updates)

in other news

It has been well over a week since i got that darned strained groin. And i am pleased to tell you that i didnt even attempt to play football. I have to tell you though i found it tricky at first. Basically when i say i play football, recently it hasnt been normal football. It has been football golf. As it says in the name we play golf but with a football. We start from specific places around the front of the college, and we aim for an arch (which we usually play normal football in) in as little shots as possible. Its a great game. I actually researched this on the internet and it is an actual sport. Anyway my driver and my support worker of that day have played football golf and i have refereed them. This includes picking a tee off point and keeping a eye on them incase they try anything sneaky. Well i did that for all of that week and last week and this week i have been able to play the game for myself. I love it. I of course have been cracking on with my work aswell. I have done a practise english test and a practise maths test (i got around 95 % in my maths test, not sure about my English test yet). They gave me easy papers at first because they will see what level i am at by giving me progressivly harder papers. In other news, yesterday my 17 year old sister moved out of our house. She has gone into a little flat not far from here. It is supported living (because she has Autism) so they deal with all of her bills and things like that for her. Her boyfriend has been with her a lot of the time since she has been there so she will not find it as difficult. The big test will be when he is not there one night. I dont think she will like that, but we will have to see. I have very recently done a massive achievement. I want to save telling you about that untill my 100th post, because for me it is a really pleasing part of this year. So that has been about it recently. Thanks for reading.
